At least 6 people were killed and several others injured in an incident in which a tractor trailer carrying 40 people fell into a water channel in the Dera Ghazi Khan region of Pakistan’s Punjab province.
Rescuers said that 40 pilgrims, including women and children, were on their way to Sakhi Sawar’s shrine when the disaster occurred. With the help of locals, emergency responders were able to rescue injured people from the canal and carry them to a nearby hospital.
Divers and rescuers are still looking for the missing passengers. The police are investigating the cause of the accident and the identities of the victims are not yet known.
