Heartbreaking images have surfaced of two climbers who perished on Mount Ağrı, located in eastern Türkiye, due to extreme weather conditions. After summiting Mount Ağrı, a group of climbers noticed the absence of Dilek Gökbulak and Muhammed Halim Dalgı at 4,600 meters during their descent. The two climbers had become disoriented and lost in severe fog and a storm. Rescue teams eventually found their bodies, frozen to death. The climbers faced snow and temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius on the day they went missing.
Footage from the day of the tragedy shows the climbers battling near-zero visibility and harsh storm conditions. Muhammed Halim Dalgı, an American citizen, had expressed admiration for Mount Ağrı in his last social media post. Dilek Gökbulak, who had attempted the climb the previous year but did not finish, had finally reached the summit only to lose her way on the descent. Their deaths have deeply saddened the climbing community.
