A freight train and a commuter train collided at the station in Sant Boi de Llobregat in Barcelona, Spain. The driver died in the accident, and a total of 85 others were injured, 2 of them seriously, authorities said. About 100 passengers in the commuter train were evacuated after the accident, authorities added.
Visiting the region after the accident, Catalan Regional Vice President Jordi Puignero announced that an investigation would be launched immediately into the cause of the accident.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed his condolences to the family of the driver who died in the accident.
