Train station turned into refugee center in Poland

For Ukrainians going to Poland, the train station in Rzeszow has been turned into a refugee centre. Stating that the first aid was given to the refugees arriving at the train station, nurse Dominika Janas said, “We provide support and help to everyone at the health point we have, within their needs. We work 24 hours a day and see 50 to 100 people a day. The children were cold, did not eat for 2 or 3 days, and had diarrhea because they could not digest the cold food. They are cold, sleepless and dehydrated. They can get away from all this stress when they come here. It’s very sad to see all these women, children and old people right now because they don’t know what to do and they are looking for a place to stay, they are homeless. They have nowhere to go, and it’s their mental health, not their health and physical condition, that is the worst. They’re crying, they’re hugging us, they’re telling us how they’re feeling, and it’s extremely frustrating for us, too.”

Medyk Health Center officer Rafal Kut stated that they have made various preparations for refugees from Ukraine and said, “We have a big kind of  warehouse where we prepared 800 beds for people coming from Ukraine and looking for a temporary stay in our city. Right now we are at a transition period, but people may need to stay here for upcoming weeks or months. We already have 350 refugees that stay in our facilities and use our clinics. We take care of them and let them go on their way.”

The Polish Border Guard announced that since the beginning of Russia’s attacks, approximately 1,067,000 Ukrainians have crossed into Poland.

The 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) convened in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other regional leaders. Hosted by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the summit brought together heads of state and government from Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

In his speech, President Erdoğan criticized Israel’s regional actions, stating, “We can neither abandon the Palestinian cause nor remain silent as the Netanyahu administration turns our region into a bloodbath.” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian defended recent Iranian military actions under the UN Charter’s right to self-defense. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, “Currently, Azerbaijan is building new cities and villages on the lands that Armenia turned into ruins, the Great Return program is being implemented.”

Established in 1985 as a continuation of the earlier RCD platform, the ECO aims to boost regional cooperation among its 10 member states. The summit, held every two years, facilitates joint initiatives across sectors such as trade, transport, energy, and health.
