An E-commerce platform Trendyol has officially opened its first overseas office in German capital city of Berlin as part of its international growth plans. Turkish Science Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, Turkish Ambassador to Berlin Ahmet Başar Şen, Berlin State Interior Senator İris Spranger and TOBB Vice President Selçuk Öztürk and many guests attended the opening reception. Speaking at the reception held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Berlin, Minister Varank said that he was very happy to attend the launch event of Trendyol’s Germany operation. Minister Varank underlined that Turkey and Germany are the two sides of consistent, dynamic and unique economic relations. Also, Minister Varank state that international trade is experiencing an unprecedented crisis today.
Trendyol Group President Çağlayan Çetin took the stage as the host and reminded in his speech that the company was founded 12 years ago by two young people. “One of these young people left his master’s degree and returned to his country. The other left his managerial career in one of the most important companies in the world and started this entrepreneurship in Turkey. When it was founded, the capital of the company was 80.000 dollars. When the growth adventure began, they brought the company to where it is today, with support from the European Development Bank, World Bank, American Silicon Valley and working day and night,” Çetin said. Çetin also mentioned that Trendyol brought in foreign capital of 2 billion dollars to the country’s ecosystem last year.
In his speech, Berlin Ambassador Şen said that it’s a pleasing development that Trendyol, which is one of the leading companies of Turkey in the field of e-commerce and has a significant place in this field in the world and in Europe, started its activities in Germany. Ambassador Şen added that it’s a source of pride and joy to see a Turkish brand in Germany.
