The attack, which claimed Tatarsky’s life and left 40 others injured, occurred as he covered the Ukraine war. Trepova, appearing at the 2nd Regional Western Military Court in St. Petersburg, expressed remorse to the victims’ families. This sentencing marks a historic moment as Trepova becomes the woman with the lengthiest prison term in Russian history.

The city has been decorated with TDT flags ahead of the summit, which will take place at the historic Varkert Bazar near the Danube.
Leaders from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Hungary are expected to attend. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also hold bilateral talks during his visit.
The summit will focus on deepening strategic cooperation among Turkic states, with discussions on economic ties, security, and cultural heritage. The event will conclude with the adoption of the Budapest Declaration.
