Tropical storm Megi made landfall in the Philippines, killing a large number of people in floods and landslides caused by the storm. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), three people were killed and at least one went missing in the country’s south.
According to a statement issued by the Emergency Response Unit in Baybay, Leyte, in the Visayas Islands group, where Megi made landfall, at least 21 people were killed and their bodies were discovered in 10 villages where search and rescue teams encountered landslides.
