Renewed clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan have once again closed key border crossings, leaving hundreds of cargo trucks stranded.
Following the brief 48-hour ceasefire declared on October 15, fighting resumed, forcing the closure of major routes, including the Torkham crossing—one of the busiest between the two countries. Long queues of trucks formed along the border, and customs clearance for Afghan transit trade at Karachi Port and Port Qasim was suspended.
According to the Pakistani army, 23 Pakistani soldiers and 250 Afghan troops were killed in the latest clashes.
