US President Donald Trump confirmed he spoke by phone with Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro but declined to share details, saying only the call “went well.” Trump said efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war were progressing despite “corruption issues” in Ukraine.
He described Venezuela as “unfriendly,” rejected claims of a possible US attack, and defended considering clemency for former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez.
Trump said the US asylum freeze may last “a long time” and suggested he would revoke citizenship from criminals if legally allowed. He also spoke with the families of two National Guardsmen attacked near the White House and confirmed a planned meeting between US envoy Steve Witkoff and Russia’s Vladimir Putin next week.
