US President Donald Trump signed an executive order reinstating the “maximum pressure campaign” against Iran, imposing harsh sanctions to block its oil exports and prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons. Trump stated that Iran is close to developing nuclear capabilities and expressed willingness to meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to negotiate.
Ahead of talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump also signed orders withdrawing the US from the UN Human Rights Council and halting funding for the UN’s Palestinian aid agency, UNRWA. He reiterated that Palestinians have no alternative but to leave Gaza and called on Jordan and Egypt to accept them.
