US President Donald Trump announced the launch of a new missile defense shield called “Golden Dome,” aimed at countering hypersonic and ballistic threats from land, sea, and space. The $175 billion project will feature AI-supported radar systems and space-based technologies, with an initial budget of $25 billion.
Trump called the system a continuation of Reagan’s 1980s “Star Wars” initiative, saying, “This technology is far beyond anything that has been done before.” Canada has shown interest in joining, potentially paving the way for NATO integration.
General Goodline from the Space Force will oversee the project. Trump emphasized the system’s strategic, economic, and industrial value, stating, “This is not an arms race—it’s a deterrent shield for future generations.”
