The third ship of Pakistan MİLGEM Project, Badr, was launched at Karachi Shipyard with a ceremony attended by Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif. Emphasizing the features of the corvettes, Akar said, “MİLGEM class corvettes will be one of the most technologically advanced surface platforms of the Pakistan Navy. It is a state-of-the-art technology product including surface-to-ground and surface-to-air missiles, anti-submarine weapons, and an advanced command and control system. Equipped with weapons and modern sensors, these ships will make a significant contribution to the capabilities of the Pakistan Navy.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also sent a video message to the ceremony where Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif spoke. After the speeches, the model of the ship was presented to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Sharif.
The export of 4 MİLGEM corvettes to Pakistan, whose main contractor is ASFAT under the Ministry of National Defense, continues as planned. In the project, which is the biggest export breakthrough of the domestic defense industry of Turkey, two of the 4 MİLGEM corvettes are under construction at the Istanbul Shipyard Command and the other two at the Karachi Shipyard at the same time.
