President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Sochi, Russia’s Black Sea coast, for a one-day working visit at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Before the bilateral meeting, the leaders issued a press statement. Russian President Vladimir Putin said, “Our trade volume has increased by 70 percent this year. In fact, it doubled in the first quarter of the year. We also have some projects in the energy sector. Consumers in Europe should be grateful to Turkey for being able to buy Russian gas from Turkey,” he said.
Erdoğan said, “I believe that we should specifically address the developments in Syria on this occasion, which will also bring relief to the region. Our solidarity in the fight against terrorism is of great importance. I believe that with the steps we will take and the talks we will hold on this issue, we will gain strength.”
