The 11th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) has begun in Bishkek, hosted by Kyrgyz President Sadir Caparov. Leaders gathered at the “Intımak Ordo” Presidential Palace, where Caparov welcomed each leader, followed by a group photo and opening remarks.

Caparov highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to TDT’s 2040 vision and 2022-2026 strategy, focusing on economic cooperation, with TDT trade rising 62%. He announced plans for agreements in digital trade, technology, and tourism and expressed support for a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev underscored the importance of collaboration in defense and security, noting increased transport through the East-West corridor linking Central Asia and Turkey via Azerbaijan, with investments boosting its capacity.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan urged a unified stance on Gaza, criticizing Israel’s actions and calling for a determined response from the Turkic world against ongoing violence.

Budapest Hosts Turkic States Summit

Budapest is set to host the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) Informal Summit on May 20–21, marking the first time a country with observer status, Hungary, will host the event. The city has been decorated with TDT flags ahead of the summit, which will take place at the historic Varkert Bazar near the Danube.

Leaders from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Hungary are expected to attend. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also hold bilateral talks during his visit.

The summit will focus on deepening strategic cooperation among Turkic states, with discussions on economic ties, security, and cultural heritage. The event will conclude with the adoption of the Budapest Declaration.
