Turkish Amateur Astronomer Captures ‘Super Blood Moon’ Eclipse

Şenol Şanlı, a 57-year-old retiree from Bursa, Türkiye, captured the final lunar eclipse of the year, known as the ‘Super Blood Moon,’ using a homemade telescope he built in his basement. After retirement, Şanlı developed a passion for astronomy, crafting his own telescope and spending his time photographing celestial events. The eclipse, which appeared 14 percent larger than usual, began at 05:12 AM, peaked at 05:44, and concluded at 06:15, offering a stunning visual spectacle as the Earth cast a shadow over the moon.
