Starting from April 1, Turkish citizens can now apply for visas upon arrival on the islands of Greece in the Aegean region. This new visa policy allows Turkish tourists to visit the islands without the need for a Schengen visa.
Tourism professionals on both sides of the Aegean have welcomed this development. Ali Jale, owner of a ferry service company between Ayvalık and Lesbos, stated that the visa application at the door is limited to one week at most. He mentioned that this decision was made following discussions between the Greek Prime Minister and the Turkish President, fulfilling a long-awaited request. Jale added that they can now facilitate travel for passengers to Lesbos Island with the official visa granted upon arrival.
