The attacker, 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura, later died by suicide on the 33rd floor. Police say Tamura, who traveled from Colorado, had a history of mental illness and was possibly acting selectively. Three civilians were also killed; one person remains hospitalized. The FBI is assisting in the investigation. Mayor Eric Adams called the incident “a night of senseless violence.”
