Turkish man sifts sands to clean beach in Balikesir

As the season preparations started on the touristic beach in Burhaniye, Balikesir, the buffet operator Birol Sarı started to sift the sand around his buffet with a flour sieve. Explaining that he is preparing for the season at the blue flag Ören beach, 55-year-old Birol Sarı said, “We are preparing for the season here. We clean this sand with the sieve system we have been using for about 11-12 years. When people come here, we want them to at least feel the difference of this place. Of course, we want to get the reward of the labor given here by serving and earning money. While I am doing this job, I am calling out to the families and young people who come to these beaches. Do not throw the things you eat and drink into the sand. Because these sands are very difficult to sift. Believe me, we have a labor of 10-15 days here. We know what we’re dealing with here. Please help us,” he said.
