Turkish Retired Officer Turns Passion for Antiques into Thriving Market

Ali Kılınç, a retired non-commissioned officer from Zile, Tokat, has transformed his 44-year passion for antiques into a small business. After serving in the Turkish Armed Forces for years, Kılınç began collecting antique items, particularly oriental corner pieces, as a hobby. Over time, his collection grew so large that he rented a shop to store and sell the items.

Now, every Saturday, Kılınç sets up an antique stall in Zile’s district center, attracting antique enthusiasts with rare finds such as rugs, clocks, copperware, and other unique regional items. Reflecting on his journey, Kılınç said, “I started collecting in 1980 for my own hobby, and now we’ve become antique dealers.” His stall has quickly become a popular destination for those seeking vintage treasures in the area.
