Upon the request of NATO, a Turkish military unit was sent to the north of Kosovo, where the tension between Serbians and Kosovans rose. The unit, which arrived in the region, is to replace the Italian unit previously deployed in the region.
“The deployment of the Turkish contingent reflects KFOR’s (the Kosovo Force) determination to continue providing a safe, secure environment and freedom of movement impartially at all times for the benefit of all communities living in Kosovo,” NATO said in a statement.
