Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced in Tokyo that the Türkiye-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) remains under negotiation but is expected to establish a strategic “win-win” partnership.
Speaking at the Türkiye-Japan CEO Roundtable during his visit for the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, Bolat highlighted growing bilateral ties, noting an 11.4% rise in Turkish exports to Japan in 2024. He acknowledged a structural trade imbalance and called for stronger Japanese investments in Türkiye, particularly in sectors like clean energy, EVs, and digital industries.
Bolat also praised past joint infrastructure projects, including the Marmaray Tunnel and Bosphorus bridges, and expressed Türkiye’s readiness to cooperate in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.
