The houses and mansions of the ancient city of Mardin, located in Türkiye, stand out for their historical texture and embroidery.
“On windows, door tops, and iwan entrances, it is common to see stone material carved in the shape of lace with various quality stone embellishments. These homes or mansions are constructed of yellow limestone, which is sometimes called Mardin stone. In Mardin, you’ll find this kind of material in practically all homes,” Şerif Tümer, a professor in the Art History Department at Mardin Artuklu University, remarked.
