Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, announced significant progress in repatriating cultural artifacts during his visit to the ‘No Escape’ exhibition at the Anatolian Civilizations Museum. “We are successfully bringing to our country the works that are of Anatolian origin and have been proven to have been taken abroad without permission, with almost 100% success,” he stated.
The exhibition features a 2,700-year-old necklace recently returned from the New York Consulate General and includes artifacts recovered from America and Switzerland. Ersoy emphasized the importance of raising global awareness about returning stolen artifacts, noting an increasing willingness from foreign collectors to return items voluntarily.
The exhibition, part of the Ankara Culture Road Festival, displays 51 artifacts under protection in Türkiye until September 29, underscoring the country’s commitment to its cultural heritage.
