Balık Lake, a hidden gem in Türkiye’s Taşlıçay district of Ağrı, has frozen completely due to severe winter weather, with temperatures dropping to -18°C. Situated at 2,241 meters in Sinek Plateau, the lake is a year-round attraction for nature lovers, offering diverse bird and fish species and picturesque scenery.
The icy surface, with a thickness of 5 centimeters in some areas, creates stunning postcard views, especially at sunset. Visitors enjoy winter activities such as ice skating, photography, and nature walks. Local resident İbrahim Kılıç highlighted the lake’s charm, saying, “The lake is a magical sight in winter. We invite photographers and tourists to experience this beauty.”
Balık Lake, also popular in warmer months for its lush surroundings and deep blue waters, remains a favorite destination for both local and international tourists.
