A 4.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Rize province of Türkiye at around 12:00 local time, causing great panic in the city. Although the earthquake did not cause major damage or loss of life, the roofs of some houses received some damage.

On the final day of the Eid al-Adha holiday, traffic came to a standstill at the Kocaeli crossing of the Northern Marmara Highway as thousands began returning to Istanbul.
Congestion intensified due to occasional accidents and vehicle breakdowns. Gendarmerie and highway crews are working continuously to keep traffic flowing. Aerial footage showed long lines of vehicles stretching along the route.
