After the year 2023 was designated as the ‘Year of Aşık Veysel’ by the Turkish Presidency and UNESCO, a concert was held with artists from various parts of the country. The young performers commemorated Aşık Veysel by playing his songs at the concert in the Sivas Convention Museum Garden. The event was organized under the slogan ‘Youth Haven’t Forgotten You.’
Âşık Veysel, whose real name was Veysel Şatıroğlu, was a Turkish minstrel and poet who lived between 1894 and 1973. Despite his visual disability, he left many valuable works for the Turkish people.
