Turkmens’ Protest Against Local Government Continues in Kirkuk

Turkmens in Iraq’s Altunköprü district have blocked the Kirkuk-Erbil highway amid ongoing protests over lack of representation in local government. Demonstrators oppose the recent appointment of a municipality manager not from the district and demand inclusion in administrative roles, which they say have excluded Turkmens for two years.

Zeki İbrahim of the Iraqi Turkmen Front stated, “All three key positions—Municipality Manager, District Manager and Police Chief—are held by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. We demand at least one be given to Turkmens.” A sit-in protest continues, despite promises by the Kirkuk Provincial Council to assign deputy positions to Turkmens. Protesters vow to maintain their action until all demands are met.

Pro-Israeli Gangs Loot Aid Trucks in Gaza, Officials Say

0

The Gaza Government Media Office claimed that gangs protected by Israel looted aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip. The office said 87 trucks were allowed in after Israeli forces allegedly killed 11 Palestinian security personnel. It added that many trucks were destroyed in the chaos, while airdropped aid was minimal and landed in conflict zones.

The statement accused Israel and the US of using hunger as a weapon and held them responsible for the crisis. It called for urgent international intervention and a neutral UN mechanism to ensure safe and fair aid distribution.
