On Saturday, US aerospace manufacturer SpaceX successfully launched the Turkish communications satellite TÜRKSAT 5B to space with Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida state, US. TÜRKSAT 5B satellite has a wide coverage area that includes countries such as the whole of the Middle East, the Red Sea, the Mediterranean North and East Africa, Nigeria, and South Africa, as well as Turkey. While having highly efficient satellite capacity, TÜRKSAT 5B has weight of 4,5 metric tons and 15 kw capacity. With the TÜRKSAT 5B satellite, Turkey’s number of active communication satellites reached 5 and its total number of satellites reached 8.
