Two Killed as Floods Sweep Vehicle into Creek in New Jersey, USA

Two people died in Plainfield, New Jersey, after their vehicle was swept into a creek during flooding caused by heavy rains. Rescue teams responded quickly, but both victims died at the scene. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency, warning of high storm intensity across the region.

In New York City, subway stations were flooded after the sewer system overflowed. Water burst through station floors and stairs, with dramatic footage showing passengers trapped. MTA officials said full subway and commuter rail service has since resumed. Nearly 100 flash flood warnings were issued across the US Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

Gaza Death Toll Nears 63,000

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that Israel’s attacks on Gaza have killed 62,895 people and injured 158,927 since October 7, 2023. In the last 24 hours alone, 76 people were killed and 298 injured.

At aid distribution points, deaths have risen to 2,158, with nearly 16,000 wounded. The ministry also said 10 more civilians, including two children, died of starvation, bringing Gaza’s hunger-related death toll to 313.
