Tekirdağ Provincial Gendarmerie Command Forces conducted an operation against historical artifact smuggling in Tekirdağ city, Turkey. The operation conducted after an information suggesting that some people from Istanbul would bring historical artifacts and a radioactive element known as Californium which is considered to be used in the production of nuclear weapons to Çerkezköy and sell them. Gendarmerie Forces stopped and conduct a search on a suspicious car in Çerkezköy district of Tekirdağ. In the search a Torah that is considered to be a historical artifact and some other historical objects from various periods with 2 kilograms of Californium material in couple of jars were seized. It was learned that the proceedings in the gendarmerie continue for 4 people who were taken into custody in connection with the incident.
