Two of five Turkish climbers stranded on Russia’s Mount Elbrus have died, according to Russian and Turkish authorities. The group called for help at 5,350 meters, prompting a rescue operation by Russian teams.
Three climbers were rescued—two had descended by themselves, and one was found alive and is under treatment. An investigation has been launched in Kabardino-Balkaria. Turkish officials are overseeing the repatriation of the deceased.
