During the high-speed train construction work on the Çerkezköy line in Ambardere locality as part of the Halkalı-Kapıkule High-Speed Train project, two workers were tragically trapped underground and lost their lives. The incident occurred during bored pile work, leading to a massive rescue operation involving fire brigades, emergency teams, and police officers. Despite extensive efforts, the bodies of the trapped workers were found after two hours of intense work. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident, with authorities taking statements from relevant personnel and conducting a thorough examination of the site. The tragic event has deeply affected the colleagues and relatives of the deceased workers.

Expatriates returning to Europe after summer holidays in Türkiye formed long queues at the Kapıkule Border Crossing, expressing sadness at leaving their homeland.
Many said they contribute to Türkiye’s economy during visits and urged citizens to value their country. “We miss our homeland terribly. Life abroad isn’t easy, so we must appreciate and protect Türkiye,” said one returnee from Germany.
