Typhoon Gaemi has reached mainland China, causing severe disruption after battering the Philippines and Taiwan. In Fujian province, 150,000 people were evacuated as authorities issued the highest disaster warning, stopping train services and warning of potential landslides and floods. The State Flood Control and Drought Assistance Center noted a high risk of natural disasters, especially around the Yangtze River and central lakes Poyang and Dongting. Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Communist Party leaders to discuss the disaster response. In Taiwan, the typhoon resulted in 3 deaths and 380 injuries.
