Typhoon Khanun in Japan sweeps Okinawa

Typhoon Khanun continues to severely impact Japan’s Okinawa province and surrounding areas, resulting in one fatality, 60 injuries, and widespread property damage. Power outages are affecting over 161,000 households, leading to the disruption of traffic control and the cancellation of 314 flights. The typhoon’s heavy rains have caused extensive flooding and high winds have resulted in toppled vehicles, uprooted trees, and damage to buildings. Authorities are urging caution and have issued evacuation orders to around 700,000 people as the typhoon moves west-northwest.
