The death toll from Typhoon Krathon in Taiwan has risen to two, with 123 people injured as the storm continues to batter the region. A falling rock in Taitung caused the latest fatality. The typhoon, which struck Kaohsiung in southwest Taiwan, has led to the cancellation of all domestic and 236 international flights.
Thousands have been evacuated from areas at risk of landslides, and significant damage, including blown-off roofs, has been reported. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai urged residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
