Typhoon Wipha swept through Hong Kong, injuring 26 people, toppling 471 trees, and delaying 400 flights, affecting around 80,000 passengers. Wind speeds reached up to 167 km/h and 110 mm of rain fell within three hours.
After hitting Hong Kong, Wipha weakened to 108 km/h and reached Taishan City in China’s Guangdong province. In both regions, the storm caused damage to infrastructure, reduced visibility, and made walking on the streets dangerous. Chinese officials reported fallen trees and damaged rooftops.
