Peru’s Moquegua region has declared a state of emergency in response to the eruption of the Ubinas Volcano. The eruption sent ash soaring to a height of 5,500 meters, affecting towns located more than 10 kilometers away. The government has taken precautionary measures, declaring an emergency in specific districts and preparing a shelter for potential evacuation. The eruption has impacted an area where around 2,000 people reside.
