During the meeting with the European Union (EU) Commission Energy Member Kadri Simson in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced that Ukraine stopped the energy flow to Europe due to the Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
“Unfortunately, due to the strikes of missiles and kamikaze drones by the Russian Federation on our energy system, we have suspended this process. But I am sure that we will restore everything, and in a calmer time, when the situation in our energy system will be stabilized, we will continue exporting electricity to Europe,” said Zelensky.
He reported that the attacks have damaged hydroelectric systems, thermal power plants, and 40 percent of Ukraine’s energy infrastructures.
Zelenskiy stated that Ukraine continues taking measures against the “terrorist attacks” on strategic energy systems.
