Ukraine launched drone strikes on Moscow for the second consecutive day, forcing the closure of four major airports overnight. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said 19 UAVs were intercepted, with no major damage or casualties reported. Russia’s defense forces claimed they downed 105 Ukrainian drones nationwide.
In retaliation, Russia struck Ukraine’s Odessa and Kharkiv regions. One person was killed and several buildings were damaged in Odessa, while Kharkiv endured a two-hour wave of drone attacks.
The strikes come ahead of Russia’s Victory Day events. President Putin had declared a unilateral 3-day ceasefire, which Ukraine rejected unless extended to 30 days.
