The UN General Assembly overwhelmingly approved a resolution urging the United States to lift its long-standing economic embargo on Cuba. The resolution passed with 187 countries in favor, while the US and Israel opposed, and Moldova abstained. Established in response to Cuba’s 1960 nationalization of US companies and enforced fully since 1962, the embargo has been upheld by 13 successive US administrations, despite a 2000 adjustment allowing food and humanitarian aid. The embargo remains a major barrier to US-Cuba trade.

Saudi Arabia, which did not issue Hajj visas to children under 12, implemented strict measures including banning those without Hajj visas from entering the city. Special areas were arranged for disabled pilgrims, yet some went beyond limits to complete the rites.
One powerful moment came when a young pilgrim without legs performed the tawaf on his hands across the ground floor, refusing the upper level designated for the disabled. He was later seen climbing stairs alone to reach his wheelchair, moving many with his determination. It is believed he chose the ground floor to pray directly in front of the Kaaba.
