UNICEF: 400,000 Children Displaced in Lebanon Amid Israel’s Attacks

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported that 400,000 children have been displaced in Lebanon over the past three weeks due to Israel’s ongoing attacks. The violence has caused widespread migration to Beirut and northern areas, forcing many families to seek shelter in schools and with relatives.

UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Ted Chaiban, during a visit to a school shelter in Zahle, emphasized that the conflict has severely impacted children, with a total of 1.2 million people displaced. He highlighted the urgent need for a ceasefire, protection of civilians, and an end to human rights violations.

Chaiban also raised concerns over education, stating, “1.2 million children are deprived of education as public schools are either damaged, inaccessible, or being used as shelters.” He warned of the potential for a “lost generation” if the conflict continues.
