The official results of the presidential and parliamentary elections held yesterday in Turkiye have not yet been announced due to the delay caused by objections made to the vote counting. According to the unofficial results, roughly 99% of which were announced, the Justice and Development Party-led Public Alliance won 49% of the votes, holding 266 out of the 600 seats. On the other hand, the Nation Alliance, led by the main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party, had 169 seats with 35% of the votes. In the presidential race, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, received around 49% of the votes, while the opposition candidate, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, received 45% of the votes. Although efforts to clarify the election results continue, it is predicted that a second election will be held for the presidency.
