Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of United Nations, visited the areas affected by the floods in India, in which nearly 1,400 people died.
“We are perfectly aware of our limited capacity and our resources. But you can absolutely be sure about one thing: were are in total solidarity with the Pakistani people.” stated Guterres. Reminding that the flood resulted in many deaths, Guterres said “This is not a matter of generosity; this is a matter of justice.” and called for financial support on behalf of Pakistan.
“Pakistan and other developing countries are paying a horrific price for the intransigence of big emitters that continue to bet on fossil fuels,” Guterres said in his Twitter, referring to the greenhouse gasses resulting in bigger greenhouse emissions and whipping the climate change up. He also advised every country to invest on renewable energy and to stop fighting the nature.
