A young member of the US Air Force self-immolated in front of Israel’s Washington Embassy yesterday to protest against attacks on Palestine. Stating that he will “no longer be complicit in genocide,” the uniformed soldier put on his hat, lit himself up with a flammable liquid, and shouted “Free Palestine” before falling to the ground. His condition was reported to be critical.

Following the UK’s recognition of Palestine, Ambassador Husam Zomlot raised the Palestinian flag at the Palestinian Mission in London, declaring, “This flag represents the Palestinian Embassy.” The ceremony was attended by UK Minister for the Middle East Hamish Falconer, civil society groups, and activists.
In his speech, Zomlot praised Palestinian resilience, highlighting students from Gaza who secured scholarships despite war conditions. He said the flag-raising marks “the beginning of the next chapter” toward justice, freedom, and sovereignty, and called for an end to “genocide, ethnic cleansing, and occupation.”
