Indirect talks between the United States and Iran on Iran’s nuclear program have begun in Muscat, the capital of Oman, amid rising regional tensions. The US delegation is led by President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, while Iran is represented by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Araghchi said Iran is entering the talks “with open eyes,” stressing that mutual respect and equal positions are essential for any lasting agreement. Ahead of the negotiations, he met Omani Foreign Minister Sayyed Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi to discuss regional issues and the framework of the Iran–US talks.
