US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman, Jordan, as part of his diplomatic efforts in the region during the Israel-Hamas conflict. During the meeting, they discussed the role of Hamas, the need for humanitarian corridors for Gaza, and international efforts to de-escalate the situation.
Jordan’s King Abdullah also emphasized the importance of protecting holy sites in Jerusalem and maintaining the status quo. After his meetings in Jordan, Blinken is set to continue his tour, visiting Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.
