US Secretary of State Marco Rubio began his Israel visit at Jerusalem’s Western Wall, accompanied by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Ambassador Mike Huckabee. The three prayed at the site and placed notes in the wall.
Before his trip, Rubio said he was dissatisfied with Israel’s recent strike in Doha targeting Hamas leaders, stressing that Washington “was not happy” with the attack. He noted the incident would not alter US-Israel ties but must be discussed regarding its impact on ceasefire efforts.
Rubio and President Donald Trump had met with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani last week to address the fallout from the Israeli strike.
