The US Department of Homeland Security announced that 10 members of the Venezuelan “Tren de Aragua” gang were sent to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba via a flight from Texas.
It was added that the detainees who arrived at Guantanamo Bay will not be placed in the same place as the current detainees at Guantanamo prison, known as the US’s “torture base.”
“President Donald Trump has been very clear. Guantanamo Bay will house the worst of the worst. That started today,” said US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
On January 29, US President Donald Trump ordered “the expansion of the Immigration Operations Center at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base to full capacity” in order to house criminal immigrants in the US.
