Venezuelan opposition figure Juan Pablo Guanipa was abducted by armed men in Caracas hours after being released from eight months of detention, opposition sources said. Opposition leader María Corina Machado said men in civilian clothes arrived in several vehicles and forcibly took Guanipa from the Los Chorros neighborhood.
Guanipa had been freed as part of a release of political detainees ordered by interim President Delcy Rodríguez. His party, Primero Justicia, blamed government officials for the abduction and called on the international community to demand his immediate release.
