Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said 100 people were killed during the US military operation that removed President Nicolás Maduro from power on January 3, marking the first official casualty estimate from Caracas. Cabello said Maduro was wounded in the leg and his wife, Cilia Flores, in the head during the raid. Venezuelan officials said many of those killed were members of Maduro’s security forces, and Cuba reported that 32 Cuban military and intelligence personnel also died.
